Newsmax’s ‘Stolen Lives’ Reveals Human Trafficking Toll on Sunday

The scope, sophistication, and human toll of modern-day trafficking in America are explored in the Newsmax premiere of “Stolen Lives: America’s Human Trafficking Crisis,” a one-hour investigation that will air Sunday at 9 p.m.

Written, produced, and directed by Keith Neubert through Breakwater Entertainment, the Newsmax original reveals how this criminal enterprise operates in plain sight, affecting cities, suburbs, and small towns across the country.

The documentary explores how traffickers exploit victims through both real-world and digital tactics, featuring firsthand accounts, expert insights, and real rescue operations. It highlights the efforts of law enforcement, policymakers, and advocacy groups working to combat the crisis and protect vulnerable communities.

“Human trafficking is a clear and present danger — it’s happening in our neighborhoods, on our children’s phones, and in places we least expect,” Neubert said. “This film is about pulling back the curtain on a hidden war that most Americans don’t realize is already being fought on their doorstep.”

The film is intended to serve as both a sobering investigative report and a vital call to action, with a particular focus on the rapid rise of cyber-enabled exploitation. It shows how traffickers increasingly use social media, gaming platforms, and encrypted messaging apps to groom and recruit victims, especially children and teenagers.

The documentary also highlights groundbreaking advances in digital forensics and how law enforcement agencies are uncovering hidden communications and tracking criminal networks.

In addition, it examines the connection between border dynamics and trafficking.

Real-life accounts from victims and their families are featured throughout the film.

Providing expert insight is renowned human trafficking authority Bill Woolf, recipient of the Presidential Medal for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons. Woolf emphasizes the importance of coordinated action among federal agencies, local law enforcement, and nonprofit organizations, noting that informed communities are a critical line of defense.

Other contributors include Brandon Guffey, who turned to advocacy after the loss of his son by advancing legislation such as “Gavin’s Law,” aimed at protecting families and strengthening accountability for online predators.

Melania Trump also is featured for championing the “Take It Down Act,” legislation focused on combating exploitation and protecting victims in the digital age.

Additional contributors include John Shehan, senior vice president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; Laura Parker, CEO of The Exodus Road; and business owner/trafficking survivor Brandilea Adams.

“What stayed with me most in making this film were the stories of families — ordinary people whose lives were shattered by something they never saw coming,” Neubert said. “We wanted to honor those voices and help other families recognize the warning signs before it’s too late.”
