Your Night Prayer

A Night Prayer

Jesus Christ, my God, I adore You and thank You for all the graces You have given me this day. I offer You my sleep and all the moments of this night. I place myself and all my loved ones, wherever they may be, in Your sacred side and under the mantle of Our Blessed Mother. Let Your holy angels stand watch and keep us in peace. Amen.

Quote of the Day

“At His Transfiguration Christ showed His disciples, the splendour of His beauty, to which He will shape and colour those who are His: ‘He will reform our lowness configured to the body of his glory.’”

— St Thomas Aquinas

Today’s Meditation

“How happy and prudent is the man who strives to be now in this life what he desires to be found at his death. For it will give a man great confidence of dying happily, if he has a perfect contempt of the world, a fervent desire to advance in virtue, a love for discipline, the spirit of penance, a prompt obedience, self-denial, and patience in bearing all adversities for the love of Christ.” —Thomas à KempisAn excerpt from The Imitation of Christ

Examination of Conscience

The daily examination of conscience is an ancient Catholic practice. It’s very simple, and it’s designed to help us identify our sins and weaknesses so that we can improve and grow stronger in the spiritual life, while providing an excellent ongoing preparation for regular Confession. It consists of taking a few minutes at the end of the day to prayerfully review our actions in the light of God’s commandments, followed by the Act of Contrition.1. Reflect on the victories and losses

Actively reflecting on the high and low points of the day can help you live more intentionally and bring a renewed sense of resolve into the following day.

  • Review your actions, words, and thoughts today. Did you actively guard yourself against temptation? Where did sin creep in?
  • In what moments did you practice virtue and moral courage?
  • Were you attuned to the Holy Spirit’s promptings today? Where did you feel His inspiration?
  • Ask Him for the graces necessary to follow His Will more purposefully tomorrow.

2. Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.3. Practice gratitude

It is God’s love that has brought you into existence and to this exact moment. Practice looking for His hand in your day.

  • Where did you feel His loving gaze upon you today?
  • What people or moments helped you see God in your life?
  • Thank God for all these moments!
  • Ask Him to help you recognize His blessings and providence tomorrow.

4. Renew your commitment to Christ

Remember: our Faith is founded upon a Person—Christ! Renew your personal love and devotion to Him.

  • Thank God for the gift of His Son Jesus and our call to be His disciples.
  • Tell the Lord of your desire to know Christ more personally.
  • If possible, set an intention for your day tomorrow. Ask Our Lord to guide you in this act.
  • Pray a Hail Mary, Our Father, or another beloved prayer.

Rest with God

The $5 “Shadow SpaceX”

One mile from SpaceX’s launchpad at Kennedy Space Center sits a tiny public company trading for less than 5 dollars a share.

Its neighbors are SpaceX and Blue Origin, and its customers already include Lockheed Martin, GE Aerospace, and the U.S. Air Force.

Almost nobody on Wall Street is talking about it yet.

The $15 Gold Fund That Pays Up to $1,152/Month

Gold is hitting record highs, but most investors are leaving income on the table. A $15 fund is quietly paying out up to $1,152 a month to regular investors – no mining stocks, no options, no physical metal required.

Chief Income Strategist Tim Plaehn calls it a breakthrough strategy that transforms gold’s rally into reliable monthly payouts. The next distribution is just days away.

The Cars. The Champions. The History.

Formula Junior Comes Home to Lime Rock

Twenty-five Formula Juniors will compete in the Jim Haynes Memorial, including both front-engine and rear-engine cars. In one run group, you’ll see the dramatic evolution of open-wheel racing in the early 1960s, with cars from Stanguellini, Lotus, Cooper, Brabham, Lola, OSCA, Elva, Kieft and more.

Formula Junior arrived in America just as Lime Rock was establishing itself, and the track quickly became one of the category’s important homes. Local racers were deeply woven into that history, including Lakeville’s Harry Carter, 1961 champion; Jim Haynes, 1963 champion; Falls Village’s Brooks Fryberger, a 1964 champion; and Lakeville’s “Fast Freddie” Stevenson, who carried that lightweight open-wheel tradition forward as Formula Junior evolved into the next generation of formula racing.

The cars will also be featured Sunday in the Lime Rock Concours, giving you a closer look at the small, beautifully simple machines that once represented the future of racing.

Jim Haynes won the 1963 SCCA Formula Junior National Championship in a Lotus 20, then purchased Lime Rock Park the following year. Through his passion for racing and strong business leadership, he helped shape Lime Rock’s future and establish it as one of America’s most respected road-racing circuits. The Jim Haynes Memorial honors both the racer and the man whose influence on Lime Rock extended far beyond the track.Get Tickets To Historic Festival 44 Here

Meet the Legends behind the History

Some of racing’s biggest names gather Saturday at 11:30 at the Information Tent next to Spectator Hill. Meet Hall of Famers David Hobbs, Judy Stropus, Tommy Kendall, and Skip Barber. Also joining them: Donald Osborne, Dorsey Schroeder, “Fast Freddie” Stevenson, Lorenzo Ardizio, and an important group of motorsport authors.

It’s a rare chance to meet those who shaped the sport, get an autograph, take a selfie, and say hello.

Revs Institute 1948 Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa

One of the most historically significant Ferraris in America. This 2.0-liter V12 Spider Corsa was the first racing Ferrari brought to the United States, later competing with Briggs Cunningham and Sam Collier. Its 130-horsepower Colombo V12 is a reminder that some of the most important cars in racing history didn’t need enormous engines to become legends.

Revs Institute Brings Living History to Lime Rock

Revs Institute in Naples, Florida, is one of the world’s great automotive collections, preserving more than 100 historically significant cars. Founded by HF44 Guest of Honor Miles Collier, Revs shares Lime Rock Park’s belief that important cars should be driven, raced, studied, and kept in front of the people who care about them.

At HF44, Revs is bringing more than a dozen extraordinary cars to Lime Rock, including its 1948 Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa. Some will race, others will parade, and all will be featured in a special paddock display. Education is central to the Revs mission, so Miles and a team of Revs automotive experts will be on hand to answer questions, explain the cars, and share the history, engineering, and preservation work behind them.

On Sunday, these remarkable cars will also appear in the Lime Rock Concours, giving you another chance to see them up close, study the details, and appreciate them at a completely different pace.Click here to join us for Historic Festival 44

The Mustang, the Man, and 66 Laps Out Front

Tommy Kendall returns to Lime Rock for HF44, along with one of the most important cars of his career. Three Dog Garage is bringing the No. 11 All Sport Ford Mustang Kendall drove during his record-setting 1997 Trans Am season, including an unforgettable Memorial Day race at Lime Rock.

Kendall was fastest in qualifying but drew third in the Fast Five draw. By the end of the opening lap, he was in front and stayed there for all 66 laps. Right behind him was longtime rival and current HF44 Director of Competition Dorsey Schroeder, who finished just 1.362 seconds back. At HF44, you can meet both men and see Kendall reunited with the Mustang that helped carry him to his fourth Trans Am championship.Get Tickets To Historic Festival 44 Here

Trans-Am Alley, where legends race again

Twenty original Trans-Am cars from legends like Gurney, Follmer, Jones, Titus, Posey, and Donohue return to race at HF44. Between sessions, head to B Paddock and discover Trans-Am Alley. Walk among the cars, meet the drivers, and step into what many consider the greatest era of American motorsports. Look for Vic Edelbrock Jr.’s original big red transporter. Lime Rock helped write this chapter of Trans-Am history, with Mark Donohue among the legends who won here.

Tickets go on sale today for the Drive for Good:
An Exclusive HF44 Experience.

Join Skip Barber and Charles Mallory at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, for a special HF44 rally through the back roads of Litchfield County on a route created by longtime rally organizer Robert Selkowitz, with Liz Cruz of Cruz Cartography. Celebrating America’s 250th birthday and the return of Historic Trans-Am to HF44, the drive brings together American racing history, art and the freedom of the open road.

The first stop is 109 Cheese and Wine in Kent, where owners Todd and Monica Brown will welcome the group for coffee and breakfast bites. From there, we’ll continue to the American Mural Project in Winsted to see Ellen Griesedieck’s extraordinary five-story tribute to American workers. Skip Barber, Charles Mallory, and Ellen will offer brief welcome remarks before a catered lunch.

The Lime Rock connection runs deep. Ellen is married to Lime Rock Legend Sam Posey, who scored his first Trans-Am victory at Lime Rock in 1969. That makes AMP a fitting destination for a drive celebrating American racing, ingenuity, and history.

Tickets are $80 per person, with a portion of every purchase benefiting the American Mural Project. Participation is limited to just 35 cars, making this one of HF44’s most exclusive experiences.Join HF44 for the Drive for Good on August 30th

Restoring Skip Barber’s Formula One March

Don Breslauer is leading the restoration of Skip Barber’s March, the car Skip drove in Formula One races. Removing decades of dirt, grime and corrosion by hand is slow, painstaking work, so Don called on Joe Wade of Dry Ice Blasting Services. Dry ice blasting is an eco-friendly, nonabrasive and nonflammable cleaning process that removes years of buildup quickly without damaging the surface beneath, saving valuable restoration and cleanup time.
