Humans Can’t Spot These Stock Market Signals – But AI Can

Editor’s Note: Every investing edge begins the same way: with the ability to see what others miss.

History is full of moments when the right insight was hiding in plain sight, buried in data no one yet knew how to interpret. The investors who recognize those shifts early are often the ones best positioned to benefit.

Today, we may be entering another one of those moments.

Markets generate an overwhelming amount of information every second, but raw data alone has never created an advantage. The real opportunity lies in identifying the patterns that matter – and acting before the rest of the market catches on.

Today, TradeSmith CEO Keith Kaplan is joining us to share how that process is changing, why new tools are making once-invisible signals easier to detect, and what that could mean for investors searching for an edge in an increasingly data-driven market.

He explains how his team is using AI to identify specific “signals” in the market before they fully play out.

To learn the ins and outs of this system, click here to watch Keith’sAI Signals Trading Eventwhere he walks you through how it works and what it’s flagging in the market today.

Take it away, Keith…

Tycho Brahe’s mission in life was to be the first to explain how the planets really moved.

So this obsessive 16th century Danish astronomer spent more than two decades building the most precise record of planetary motion the world had ever seen — and then guarded it so jealously almost no one was allowed to see it.

In Brahe’s time, there were no telescopes. Every measurement he took was with the naked eye, using instruments he designed and built himself on a small island off the coast of Denmark.

It was a data set unlike anything that had ever existed — page after page of handwritten figures and precise planetary positions.

He couldn’t interpret all that data alone. So he brought on a brilliant young German mathematician named Johannes Kepler. But Brahe, afraid Kepler might make the discovery first, handed his apprentice only just enough data to be useful and locked the rest away.

That arrangement lasted barely a year. In October 1601, Brahe died suddenly. Kepler inherited his notebooks and studied them intensely for the next four years.

What he found was proof that everything astronomers had assumed since ancient Greece was wrong.

Kepler realized that planets didn’t move in perfect circles. They moved in ellipses — slightly flattened ovals, with the sun off to one side rather than in the direct center.

Almost a century later, Isaac Newton read Kepler’s laws of elliptical motion and worked out the force that explained them. He called it gravity.

One of the most important ideas in the history of science was hiding in Brahe’s notebooks for decades. The data had always been there. All it needed was someone who could make it legible.

I’m telling you this because the stock market has a Tycho Brahe problem, too.

It generates more data in a single trading day than Brahe recorded in a lifetime. The problem is, for most of its existence, only a tiny fraction of it has been readable.

But today, thanks to AI, it’s possible to find “signals” inside that data — repeating patterns that point to future moves in stocks, many with historical accuracy rates of 90% or better.

I know because my team and I at TradeSmith have created a new AI-powered trading tool that’s unearthed more than 200 of these signals across nearly 2,500 stocks.

As I showed the nearly 9,000 people who joined my AI Signals Trading Event on Wednesday, in a six-year backtest, a model portfolio of these signals trades delivered a 12x return.

And in 2022 — the worst year for stocks in half a century — they produced an average backtested gain of 16.6% while the S&P 500 fell nearly 20%.

If you missed it, the replay is still online. It’s packed full of trade examples, strategy details, and on-screen demos. Go here to watch it now.

Today, I want to share something I didn’t have time to cover on Wednesday — how much work and ingenuity went into building our new system.

The answer is: more than I expected.

Nvidia’s own customers could soon become fierce competitors, dethroning the AI Chip King. But there’s a critical component that AI data centers need just as badly as chips. The demand is so massive that a single data center uses enough of it to stretch around the earth eight times. While the media hypes up AI chips, the smart money has found the next big thing. Can the Weather in Paris Move the Stock Market?

Our chief developer, Mike Carr, has been writing code for 40 years.

He spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force – coding nuclear missile paths, working on cryptography for the National Security Agency, and helping install an early version of the internet at the Pentagon.

When he left the military, he went on to manage more than $200 million in client funds. He also became a Chartered Market Technician — a credential only about 4,500 people in the world hold.

Two years ago, he joined TradeSmith to help us develop new analytics and strategies. And he brought with him the kernel of an idea he’d been working on for more than 20 years.

In 2003, Mike started doing rudimentary signal studies. Every time he spotted a repeating pattern in the data that tended to precede a move in a stock — he noted it down. He traded this way for years, constantly testing what worked and what didn’t.

Then in 2016, he read a Bloomberg profile of Jim Simons’ storied hedge fund, Renaissance Technologies. One detail stuck with him: Simons had once found a tradable signal involving the weather in Paris.

If he could find a signal in Paris weather, Mike realized, the signals hiding in ordinary market data had to be almost limitless. That was the moment he decided to stop hunting for signals manually and start building a system that could hunt them at scale — one ordinary investors could actually use.

Last year, we started feeding the 150 or so signals he’d collected into an AI system and prompted it to generate more like them. We processed more than 1 trillion database rows, running every stock through 847 individual calculations. We tested every combination of price patterns, technical indicators, and calendar conditions we could find.

Then we hit a problem we hadn’t anticipated.

On any given day, our AI-powered signals generator was delivering a flood of 697 trade setups – all with historical accuracy rates of 75% or better. It was far too much for any trader to handle, no matter their level of experience.

So we spent the next six months solving a different problem: How do you take that many high-quality signals and deliver something an investor can actually use?

The answer Mike came up with was the Quality Score. It’s a 0-to-100 rating that factors each signal’s win rate and average returns and uses machine learning to figure out how effective it was during similar market conditions in the past.

Pair that with a focused model portfolio, and the flood became an actionable shortlist.

Introducing Our Three-Stock Strategy

At any given moment, it holds three S&P 500 stocks — each one selected by an algorithm based on its Quality Score and other key factors. When an exit signal fires on one of the three, a new trade recommendation takes its place.

That’s the whole strategy. Three positions, always live. Each one selected not because a human liked a chart or a story… but because an algorithm chose a mathematically optimal trade.

We backtested it from January 1, 2020 through January 30, 2026 – a stretch that covered the COVID crash, the 2022 bear market, two years of historic inflation, rising interest rates, and two wars.

It wasn’t a friendly period to stress-test a trading system against. But here’s what the Signals Master Portfolio produced:

  • 54% compounded annual return— versus about 15% for the S&P 500 over the same six years
  • 73.4% win rate across hundreds of trades
  • maximum drawdown of 18.1% — less than the S&P 500’s maximum drawdown of 25.4%

The model portfolio’s maximum drawdown is worth pausing on.

A lot of trading systems can generate a high compounded return in a backtest. Few can generate one that also held up better than a benchmark like the S&P 500 during its worst stretch. That’s the litmus test of whether a system is managing risk effectively or just riding luck.

Which is the point of what we’ve spent the last 12 years (and in Mike’s case more than 20 years) developing. Hedge funds have been doing this kind of work for decades — pattern recognition, machine learning, disciplined rotation in and out of short-term trades. But until now, nothing like it has existed for regular investors.

I went into all the details during Wednesday’s launch event. So if you haven’t already, make sure to check it outwhile it’s still online.

ADVERTORIAL

$0.91/share now. 85% allocated. Closes April 30.

It’s easy to lump everything into the same category right now.

Another AI company. Another story. Another headline.

That’s what most people see. But every so often, something doesn’t quite fit that pattern.

RAD Intel has already delivered 5,400%+ valuation growth over the last five years. Over the past year alone, the share price has moved from $0.55 to $0.91, with earlier participants in 2024 entering as low as $0.38.

That kind of movement doesn’t happen in isolation.

Behind it is an AI startup that has doubled sales contracts in 2025 and secured recurring seven-figure enterprise deals with Fortune 1000 customers. It’s not a concept stage company trying to find product-market fit. It’s already operating inside large organizations with real budgets.

And their loyal investor base, RAD Nation, reflects that.

More than 20,000 investors have participated so far, alongside multiple Fidelity funds, selection by the Adobe Design Fund, and operators from companies like Google, Meta, and Amazon. That level of participation tends to follow companies that have already crossed an early threshold of validation.

The broader market has started to take notice, while access remains open through an SEC-qualified Reg A+ offering. That window is narrowing fast. The current allocation is now nearly 85% full, with shares available at $0.91 until April 30, when this round closes.

For most investors, the question isn’t whether they’ve heard about AI. It’s whether they’re looking at the same names everyone else is chasing, or the ones that have already started to separate. RAD Intel is increasingly looking like the latter.

Moments like this do not stay open forever. Once a round gets this full, the window tends to feel wide open right up until it isn’t.

Shares are available now at $0.91. April 30 is the deadline.

Lock-in $0.91 Shares Before 4/30

Gosar Recognized as a Champion of Limited Government

I’m proud to share that this week, I was recognized as a “Champion of Limited Government” in the 2026 Limited Government Index released by the Institute for Legislative Analysis.

This comprehensive index evaluates every Member of Congress across hundreds of key votes and tens of thousands of data points, measuring how consistently we uphold limited government, individual liberty, and fiscal responsibility. Earning this recognition reflects my continued commitment to opposing bloated spending, pushing back against federal overreach, and defending the Constitution.

At a time when Washington, D.C. continues to grow larger and more intrusive, I remain focused on doing exactly what I was sent here to do: fight for smaller government and greater freedom.

I encourage you to take a closer look at the full rankings to see where I stand—and how other members compare.

heritage

Near-Perfect Conservative Score: Fighting for You Every Day

I’m also proud to report that the latest Heritage Action Scorecard has been released—and once again, I earned a near-perfect score for standing firm on conservative principles.

The Heritage Action scorecard is widely regarded as a leading measure of how consistently Members of Congress vote on key conservative priorities, tracking critical legislation and holding lawmakers accountable.

This strong rating reflects my commitment to:

  • Defending limited government and opposing reckless spending
  • Securing our border and enforcing immigration laws
  • Protecting individual freedoms and the Constitution

From fighting bloated federal spending packages to opposing policies that expand Washington’s control over your daily lives, I have consistently voted to put Arizona—and America—first.

I encourage you to review my full scorecard and see how these key votes compare with other members of Congress.

rural

Standing Up for Rural Arizona’s Health Care Needs

As the representative for one of the most rural districts in the country, I understand firsthand that access to health care isn’t a talking point—it’s a daily challenge. Many communities across rural Arizona face long travel distances, provider shortages, and limited infrastructure making even basic care difficult to obtain.

That’s why this week I voted in favor of H.R. 2493, the Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act, which passed overwhelmingly with bipartisan support. While I remain cautious about expanding federal programs without strong accountability, this legislation provides targeted, temporary support to help rural providers coordinate care, strengthen local networks, and better serve underserved populations.

For many of my constituents, these programs can mean the difference between receiving care close to home or going without it altogether.

I will continue pushing for transparency and measurable outcomes, but ensuring rural communities are not left behind remains a priority.

weaponization

A Two-tiered Justice System Exposed

A newly released Department of Justice report confirms what many of us have long warned: the Biden Administration weaponized federal law to target pro-life Americans while turning a blind eye to violence against them.

According to the report, the FACE Act—originally intended to protect both abortion facilities and religious institutions—was selectively enforced against peaceful pro-life advocates, while attacks on pregnancy centers and churches were largely ignored.

Even more troubling, the report details coordination between federal prosecutors and pro-abortion groups to build cases against pro-life individuals, along with evidence of prosecutorial misconduct, harsher penalties for pro-life defendants, and a clear pattern of bias in enforcement.

This is not equal justice under the law—it is a political double standard.

As a pro-life member of Congress, I find this deeply disturbing. No American should be targeted by their own government for standing up for the unborn or living out their faith.

We must restore accountability, protect religious liberty, and ensure that federal power is never again used to silence or punish Americans for their beliefs.

h1b

Gosar Sponsors Bill to End the H-1B Job Displacement Scam

This week, I proudly co-sponsored legislation to overhaul and pause the H-1B visa program, which for too long has been abused at the expense of American workers.

What was intended to fill legitimate skill gaps has instead been twisted into a tool for outsourcing and wage suppression, with qualified Americans pushed aside in favor of lower-cost foreign labor.

The H-1B program has been hijacked to replace American workers with cheaper labor—plain and simple.

This legislation puts a stop to that by pausing new H-1B visas and advancing reforms that require employers to prioritize American workers, protect wages, and restore integrity to the program.

If a company can hire an American, they should—no loopholes, no excuses.

I will continue fighting for policies that defend our workforce, strengthen our economy, and put American workers first.

dignity

No Amnesty. No Shortcuts. Uphold the Rule of Law.

I’ve heard from hundreds of constituents regarding the DIGNITY Act of 2025, and I want to take the time to respond clearly.

I’ve reviewed legislation and I oppose it.

While it is being marketed as “reform,” the core function of this bill is to grant legal status to millions of individuals who entered or remained in the United States illegally—amnesty in all but name.

Supporters argue it stops short of citizenship, but that distinction is misleading. Once legal status is granted, a pathway to permanent residence—and ultimately citizenship—inevitably follows.

Citizenship in the United States is something to be earned through lawful process, not handed out to those who bypassed it. Rewarding illegal entry undermines those who followed the rules and weakens respect for the rule of law.

We have seen this before. Amnesty paired with promises of future enforcement has consistently failed, encouraging more illegal immigration rather than deterring it. Arbitrary cutoff dates do not solve the problem—they perpetuate it.

The United States is a nation of laws, and any serious immigration reform must begin with enforcement, deportation and deterrence—not retroactive legalization.

No amount of secondary provisions can justify granting sweeping amnesty. I will not support legislation that rewards unlawful behavior and erodes the integrity of our immigration system.

Honoring Those Who Served: Support Honor Flight Arizona

Our nation owes a profound debt of gratitude to the men and women who wore the uniform in defense of our freedoms. One extraordinary organization ensuring that debt is never forgotten is Honor Flight Arizona.

Through their dedicated, grassroots efforts, Honor Flight Arizona provides our veterans—at no cost—with the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. For many, this is a deeply meaningful and long-overdue experience, especially for our Vietnam veterans who too often returned home without the recognition they deserved.

Their next mission will take place May 18–20, when another group of American heroes will make the journey to our nation’s capital. These trips are more than visits—they are a long-overdue “welcome home,” a moment of reflection, and a powerful reminder that their service will never be forgotten.

Unfortunately, too many veterans are still unaware of this opportunity, or they humbly believe they are not deserving of such recognition. That could not be further from the truth. Every veteran has earned this honor.

To learn more about this incredible organization, visit Honor Flight Arizona to follow upcoming missions, sign up a veteran, or volunteer as a guardian to ensure these trips remain free of charge. Increased awareness means more veterans can experience the gratitude of a nation they so faithfully served.

Let us do our part to ensure that no veteran is forgotten—and that every hero receives the recognition they have long deserved.

People Who Made America Great

TODAY’S PATRIOT

People Who Made America Great

Charles Koch

Charles Koch

Charles Koch (b. 1935) is an influential American businessman and philanthropist who has served as the chairman and CEO of Koch Industries since 1967. After earning multiple engineering degrees from MIT, he took over his father’s mid-sized oil company and transformed it into a massive, diversified global conglomerate—one of the largest privately held companies in the world. Under his leadership, the firm expanded far beyond energy into chemicals, paper products (such as Dixie cups and Quilted Northern), and electronics. He is equally famous for his decades-long support of libertarian and free-market causes, co-founding the Cato Institute and funding a vast network of think tanks and advocacy groups that have profoundly shaped modern American conservative politics.

A specific hallmark of Koch’s career is his development and implementation of Market-Based Management (MBM), a unique holistic philosophy he credits for his company’s 9,000-fold increase in value. MBM applies the principles of a free society—such as individual rights, personal responsibility, and free exchange—to the internal structure of a private corporation. Rather than using traditional top-down hierarchies, the system encourages employees to act as “principled entrepreneurs,” empowering them to challenge their superiors and make decisions based on their demonstrated knowledge rather than their job titles.

Be Healed: A Guide To Encountering the Powerful Love of Jesus in Your Life

Today’s Meditation

“Isn’t this the promise of the Gospel? St. Paul assures us that because of Christs redemption and the Fathers providential love, all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28). Look at a crucifix or an image of the crucified Jesus in your imagination. Do you believe that we were healed by his wounds (!Pt 2:24)? None of his suffering is wasted or superfluous: all of it has been necessary for our salvation and healing. Now look at your own suffering and wounds and even your own sins. Can you see how every wound you have ever incurred and every sin you have ever committed, if submitted to God and redeemed, will be worked for your greater good and not just for your good? This grace extends to all the people your life touches directly and indirectly in the present and for generations to come. This confidence allows us to live with great freedom.” —Bob Schuchts, p. 192

Examination of Conscience

The daily examination of conscience is an ancient Catholic practice. It’s very simple, and it’s designed to help us identify our sins and weaknesses so that we can improve and grow stronger in the spiritual life, while providing an excellent ongoing preparation for regular Confession. It consists of taking a few minutes at the end of the day to prayerfully review our actions in the light of God’s commandments, followed by the Act of Contrition.

Reflect on the victories and losses

Actively reflecting on the high and low points of the day can help you live more intentionally and bring a renewed sense of resolve into the following day.

  • Review your actions, words, and thoughts today. Did you actively guard yourself against temptation? Where did sin creep in?
  • In what moments did you practice virtue and moral courage?
  • Were you attuned to the Holy Spirit’s promptings today? Where did you feel His inspiration?
  • Ask Him for the graces necessary to follow His Will more purposefully tomorrow.

 Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.

 Practice gratitude

It is God’s love that has brought you into existence and to this exact moment. Practice looking for His hand in your day.

  • Where did you feel His loving gaze upon you today?
  • What people or moments helped you see God in your life?
  • Thank God for all these moments!
  • Ask Him to help you recognize His blessings and providence tomorrow.

 Renew your commitment to Christ

Remember: our Faith is founded upon a Person—Christ! Renew your personal love and devotion to Him.

  • Thank God for the gift of His Son Jesus and our call to be His disciples.
  • Tell the Lord of your desire to know Christ more personally.
  • If possible, set an intention for your day tomorrow. Ask Our Lord to guide you in this act.
  • Pray a Hail Mary, Our Father, or another beloved prayer.

Rest with God

Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you shining stars! — Psalm 148:3

Alcoa Rebounds as Aluminum Tightens, But a Q1 Miss Tests the Rally

Written by Jessica Mitacek on April 22, 2026

Alcoa logo over molten aluminum pour in smelter, highlighting AA stock tied to aluminum prices and industrial demand.

Key Points

  • The Iran war has worsened an existing aluminum supply shortage, pushing prices above $3,557 per metric ton to near four-year highs.
  • Alcoa missed Q1 2026 earnings estimates with EPS of $1.40 versus $1.60 expected, but the selloff may be overdone given strong prior results.
  • Institutional investors added nearly $4 billion in Alcoa inflows over the past year, and the global aluminum alloy market is projected to reach $406 billion by 2033.
  • Special ReportSell 99% of Your Stocks, Do THIS Instead… (From The Oxford Club)

Global aluminum industry leader Alcoa (NYSE: AA) has served as the quintessential example of just how highly cyclical the basic materials sector can be.

So far this year, that cohort of stocks has posted a year-to-date (YTD) gain of around 12%, second-best among the S&P 500’s 11 sectors and trailing only energy.

Alcoa, for its part, has played a major role in that. But that has come after a lengthy recovery from pandemic-era catalysts and a subsequent dramatic fall in share price.

On March 25, 2022, the stock reached its all-time high (ATH) of $91.96 after supply chain issues drove aluminum prices to record prices. From that ATH through its five-year low in April 2025, the stock fell by more than 75%.

But things are once again looking up.

Over the past year, AA has gained more than 185%. And despite a recent earnings disappointment, the stock is poised to challenge its record high as tailwinds align and the aluminum market continues to get tighter.

But despite its ubiquitous demand, aluminum’s recent price action is being fueled by conflict in the Middle East.

An existing global supply shortage has been exacerbated by the Iran war, adversely affecting the automotive, packaging, and construction industries. The region is responsible for 9% of global aluminum supply, and major smelters were damaged during the attacks. As a result, suppliers in the Middle East have seen production plummet. Aluminum Bahrain, for instance, was forced to cut its output by nearly 19%.

At the same time, aluminum inventories at the London Metals Exchange are critically low. This month, stocks have fallen to under 400,000 tonnes, with much of that inventory already earmarked for delivery. Additionally, elevated energy costs—also a result of the conflict—are inhibiting idled capacity in countries outside of the Middle East.

Together, this confluence of catalysts has seen aluminum prices rise above $3,557 per metric ton, which is beginning to rival the metal’s record high from 2022.

Despite Alcoa’s Earnings Miss, Tailwinds Remain in Place

Despite gaining more than 17% over the past month, shares of Alcoa sold off after the company’s Q1 2026 earnings reportrevealed a miss on the top and bottom lines. That drove the stock down by double digits over the past five trading sessions.

Earnings per share (EPS) of $1.40 missed the consensus estimate of $1.60, and revenue of $3.19 billion—more than 5% lower than the year prior—was below analyst estimates of $3.35 billion.

That panic was likely overblown, though. The EPS miss was the company’s first in eight quarters. And while quarterly revenue also missed analyst expectations, just one quarter ago the company reported $6.75 billion in revenue versus forecasts of $3.28 billion, a nearly 106% puside surprise.

The bullish investment thesis remains intact. In his earnings call comments, CEO William Oplinger noted that the Iran war presented an unforeseen headwind. The subsequent blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has been a major accelerator for aluminum prices this year, leading to delivery suspensions and supply chain issues reminiscent of 2022, with aluminum prices now trading around four-year highs.

But Oplinger stressed that Alcoa was able to pivot as necessary, saying that “despite significant disruption in the Middle East, our teams ensured continuity of supply for our operations,” adding that numerous smelting projects are slated for approval in the year ahead.

Additionally, the global aluminum alloy market is forecast to undergo a steady compound annual growth rate of 7.4% from 2026 to 2033, growing from more than $243 billion in 2025 to a projected $406 billion by 2033, according to industry consultancy firm Grand View Research.

And in spite of a more than 18% YTD gain, shares of Alcoa are comparatively cheap. The stock’s forward price-to-earnings ratio suggests that after the earnings disappointment-fueled selloff, shares could be undervalued.

The real SpaceX trade isn’t SpaceX (Ad)

When the SpaceX IPO launches, most investors will already be too late. The real opportunity isn’t the IPO itself – it’s the infrastructure behind it.

Wall Street’s Read on Alcoa After Earnings

Of the 12 analysts currently covering AA stock, only five have assigned it a Buy rating.

High-end price targets suggest that the stock could gain more than 30% over the next 12 months, but the consensus price target of around $61 implies more than 7% potential downside.

However, over the past three quarters, institutional ownership has seen outsized buying, resulting in nearly $4 billion in inflows over the past year compared to just over $1 billion in outflows. That buying was particularly pronounced in Q3 and Q4 2025, during which Alcoa recorded institutional inflows of $3.17 billion against just $821 million in outflows.

Reinforcing the buy case is the fact that the company’s financial health has been in the TradeSmith Green Zone for more than seven months. Also, Alcoa’s MarketRank™ shows the stock scoring higher than 72% of companies evaluated by MarketBeat, and ranking 76th out of 173 stocks in the industrials sector. The company’s current short interest of just 2.63% of the float marks a more than 19% decrease from the prior month.
